Scaling the heights

Mary Munro grew up in the small town of Cumnock, NSW in a hard-working household that valued “determination, strong will and the freedom of education”.

Determined to make a difference, Mary followed her mother’s footsteps to study Education at Charles Sturt University Bathurst campus.

Now in her third year of a Bachelor of Education (K-12), Mary has received the CSUgive – Geoff Honey Memorial Scholarship, the Dr Ron Camplin Scholarship OAM and the CSU Excellence Scholarship, totalling $41,000 in financial support.

“The scholarships have provided me with the ability to go the extra mile in my studies and to participate in programs that have not only broadened my education, but my life experiences.

“I was able to gain selection into one of the leading international programs on inclusive education in Austria during the summer break in my degree. It was my first overseas trip and participating in a program delivered by global experts in their field and surrounded by other students from all over the world who shared my passion was incredible.

“I returned to my degree with new insights, more experiences and understanding of education practices in other countries and contexts. Now I’m more excited than ever about my study and how I can give back to my regional community and the world through my career.”
