Dr Suzi Chen - Grad Cert in Cyber Security - 2021
Dr Suzi Chen was born in Taiwan but has called Melbourne home for over 25 years. Suzi graduated from the Graduate Certificate in Cyber Security with Charles Sturt in 2021, to stay relevant to the changing environment and broaden her thinking.
Suzi's career path has been diverse - she trained as a medical researcher and has become a board director, project manager, graphic designer, business owner, founder, and more. She credits her diverse career portfolio in part because of her desire to get involved in communities and making a difference. Working with young people to deliver grassroots projects in communities has broadened Suzi’s thinking and influenced her career.
“Wearing different hats certainly makes life more interesting and exciting,” Suzi reflects. ” In 2016, I set up my own company Notonos offering management consulting, governance support and project management services. I then hosted a summit on gender equity at the United Nations in 2018 in New York City. Today I’m working with C-suites and senior management to deliver projects”.
Suzi believes that equity cannot be achieved unless we advocate for it every day at the grassroots level. She mentors young people, setting an example and guiding them through their career and life choices, producing the Career Talk Podcast for Young Professionals by working with young leaders from JCI Eastern and JCI Australia.
To Suzi, advancing gender equity means putting words into action and being part of the solution in her own small way. She believes that even the smallest of actions can make a difference. Suzi's story is one of resilience, adaptability, and a desire to make a positive difference in the world.
Suzi has recently been written two poems for the Undefeated project. Undefeated is a collection of 118 stories from 90 migrant women across Australia, celebrating the challenges and triumphs, and contribution to a multicultural Australia.
“There is a story in every migrant and I’m grateful to have had an opportunity to share my own story,” Suzi states.
