We’re excited to invite you to a special Sydney event designed to bring our international alumni together while exploring the rapidly evolving world of Artificial Intelligence.

This gathering offers a unique opportunity to reconnect, learn and engage with fellow graduates. Hosted by Mike Ferguson, Pro Vice-Chancellor International, Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor International, you will hear from Dr Mark Bassett, Associate Professor and Academic Lead (Artificial Intelligence), as he discusses: 'The evolving challenges and opportunities of AI in education'.

You’ll also hear from an alumni expert panel (including Kate Carruthers and Krysti-Lee Patterson) sharing how they are applying AI across varied industries, followed by an interactive Q&A.

Charles Sturt University warmly invites our alumni community to attend the 2026 Yindyamarra Fireside Oration, presented in partnership with Yindyamarra Nguluway and the Gulbali Institute.

This year marks a significant moment - for the first time, the oration will be held on our Albury-Wodonga campus, as part of Gulbali Day celebrations during NAIDOC Week.

Theme: 60 Long Years of Agricultural Truth-Telling

Sixty years ago, 200 Gurindji stockmen, domestic workers, and their families walked off Wave Hill Station - a defining moment in Australia’s history that reshaped conversations around land rights and fair wages.

Six decades on, this oration reflects on:

• The legacy of truth-telling within Australian agriculture
• Indigenous identity and its connection to land and farming
• Ongoing challenges including underrepresentation and inequity
• Opportunities for reconnection, resilience, and cultural practice in modern agriculture

Grounded in the principle of Yindyamarra - deep respect and gentle truth, this oration invites us all to listen, reflect, and build stronger partnerships with land and community.
